Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Delta State counterpart Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Deputy Senate Speaker Ovie Omo-Agege were due to attend the annual fundraising dinner funds from the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) in Lagos State.

Speaking at a weekend media conference in Lagos, GCUOBA Global General Chairman Charles Majoroh said “Government College Ughelli was established in 1945 with very high academic and moral standards. , like most public schools in the country, it fell into disuse a few years ago and the former students of the school of this association have made it their mission to intervene if necessary to meet the needs of the school and stem the decline.

According to him, the event to be held in October will also be an opportunity to honor 24 GCUOBA members with Life Achievement Awards, even as dignitaries gather to contribute to the welfare of the school.

Majoroh said the association has invested in all facets of the school, namely rebuilding hotels, classrooms, libraries, sports facilities, roads and has employed additional teachers over the years. years to address the shortcomings of the school, adding that plans were underway for the process of handing the school over to the alumni association for effective management.
