Head of Programs and Fundraising at HipCity Innovation Center

Main responsibilities

  • Project management of donor funded projects
  • Undertake proper and realistic planning of project activities with little or no supervision
  • Provide management, guidance and technical oversight of the organization’s projects from inception, implementation and closure in accordance with quality principles and standards, donor guidelines and industry best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector
  • Conduct research on fundraising opportunities.
  • Maintain and update donor database at national and international level

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • A university degree or a higher national diploma in social sciences / international relations / international development / public relations or other relevant subject (a master’s degree will be an added advantage).
  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience in a similar position
  • Clear understanding of the context and operations of global and national development issues.
  • Extensive experience in team management and leadership

Skills and experience – essential:

  • Previous experience in NGOs
  • Previous project management experience
  • Previous experience in proposal writing and NGO fundraising and strategies
  • Knowledge of community mobilization and participatory approaches
  • Professionalism
  • Exceptional organization, time management and attention to detail
  • Good writing skills
  • Able to work independently and deliver on time
  • Fluent in English (any foreign or national language is an advantage).
  • Strong computer skills (word, excel, power point, etc.)
  • Available/willing to travel to remote areas of Abuja and Nigeria if required.
  • Excellent knowledge of the thematic areas of work of HipCity
  • Excellent communicator and negotiator with diplomatic skills.
  • Commitment to and understanding of HipCity core values
  • Team player, flexible, patient.
  • Proven gender awareness and sensitivity.
  • Experience with a wide range of fundraising channels and proven success in fundraising for a business or non-profit organization
  • Sound knowledge of fundraising principles from the private sector, individuals and philanthropic foundations, donor grants, embassies and experience in soliciting funds from these sources.
  • Proven track record in ideation and preparation of ideas into bankable proposals according to established guidelines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Impeccable organizational and project management skills with a knack for prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Possess admirable diplomatic skills.
  • Social media and tech savvy and adept at non-profit tools
