The management of Ativo Limited (the owners of Quickraiz, a donation-based crowdfunding platform), said Labor Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi is not one of its shareholders.
This even as Obi has defended the crowdfunding of his presidential campaign, describing it as complying with Nigerian law.
Obi-Datti’s presidential campaign had published an official website, https://www.obidatticampaign.com/as official payment platforms for those wishing to donate to his campaign for the presidential election next year.
There have been insinuations that Obi is the owner of Ativo Limited and is allegedly using the company’s account to divert donations to his campaign for his personal use.
But Ativo said such an insinuation is false, noting that neither Obi nor any of his associations is its shareholder “whether in person or by proxy nor is he a director of Ativo Limited. “.
“For the general public, Ativo Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of electronic payplus Limited which commenced operations in Nigeria in July 2018 after incorporation.
“Between July 2018 and today, over 5,000 campaigns have been launched on the Quickraiz platform, including personal, charitable and political campaigns and there are currently around 500 campaigns running on the platform.”
